Antique LFD&H NY Copper 6-1/4" Saucepan + Lid Early Duparquet 24 & 26 Wooster Street, NY1874-1885 Iron Handles, Copper Rivets 19th Century, 1874-1885 For sale is a wonderful Antique LFD&H NY Copper Saucepan. This is one of the nicest condition pans I've had with this old mark from 1874-1885, and was sourced from a seller in The Netherlands. The saucepan measures 6-1/4" diameter and stands 4-1/8" tall; overall 13-1/8" length including the iron handle; the lid meaures 6-5/8" diameter and 11-7/8" overall length. The pan is in excellent condition overall for its age; there are signs of character on the copper from age and use (see photos), and it sits flat; the old tin in the interior has darkened, including the underside of the lid, and will need retinning prior to use. The lid is original to the pan, and both the lid and pan are marked with identical marks. The iron handle is firmly secured by 2 large rivets on the pan, and the number 7 is imprinted into the back of the handle; the lid is firmly secured by 3 rivets. The iron handles have illegible markings on the underside, possibly the name of the fabricator for the iron handles. The LFD&H 24 & 26 Wooster St, NY mark dates the pan to 1874 to 1885, and is one of the early marks of Louis Francois Duparquet and Pierre Huot. Made from a substantial gauge of copper, the pan + lid weighs 3 lbs. 14 oz; my caliper measurements vary from 2.5-2. 6 mm thickness just below the top rim; further down the side of the pan, the thickness reduces to approx 2mm. Note that antique copper pans retain signs of age and use from their previous lives, adding to their elegance, charm and character.
